Location

The KEER 2022 Conference will take place in Barcelona, Spain. Barcelona is a Mediterranean city, located on the coast and bounded by the Collserola mountain, an authentic green lung to the city. It is a major cultural and economic center in southwestern Europe.

Barcelona is a big city, but not so huge, so many attractions can be discovered on foot. There are nice monuments to visit and many good places to eat. Tapas are very popular as an informal lunch or dinner. Just strolling around the streets, such as in the famous las Ramblas, can be a very pleasant experience.

Besides, beginning of September is a perfect time of the year for a visit to Barcelona. Days are long and full of light, and the weather is usually sunny and warm (but not as hot as in July and August).

Venue

The Meeting will be held at the Faculty of Mathematics and Statistics, in Barcelona. The building is easily accessible from any part of the city by metro, bus or tram. In particular, it takes about 25 minutes from Plaça Catalunya (Barcelona centre) to the Faculty by metro.

The faculty is located in a nice building, with exposed brick. It only has three floors, but we’ll only use the two lower ones for the conference. The atmosphere is familiar, there won’t many students the week of the conference, as the course starts the following week. All rooms that we’ll use have heating and air conditioning, so we’ll be comfortable for good discussions (in case we need something, we’ll need the air conditioning and not the heating). Rooms are also equipped with cameras and microphones for streaming.

We plan to use a combination of amphitheater for keynote speakers, and smaller rooms for sessions. Smaller rooms have plugs in the tables to charge computers. Of course, wifi will be freely available during the conference.

The building has a lawn that everybody can access at any time. If the weather is good, we’ll probably be able to have some coffee breaks outdoors.
